Microsoft has announced a significant evolution in its Southern European operations, elevating Greece's role to a regional decision-making center. The cluster previously comprising Greece, Cyprus, and Malta is now expanding to include the Adriatic region, integrating nine additional markets, including Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, and Albania.

Recognition of Strategic Growth

This move follows Microsoft's ongoing investment activity in Greece, centered on the development of the local Data Center Region. The expansion reflects the steady growth of the Greek subsidiary and its contribution to the digital economy. According to the company, the new structure will facilitate faster knowledge transfer and better utilization of best practices in cutting-edge technologies.

"This development is a vote of confidence in our team and the path Microsoft has built in Greece over recent years," stated Gianna Andronopoulou, General Manager for Microsoft Greece, Cyprus, Malta & Adriatic.

Focus on Cloud and AI

The expanded cluster aims to address common challenges across Southern European markets, focusing on:

  • Leveraging Cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
  • Enhancing digital skills within the workforce.
  • Strengthening Cybersecurity.
  • Developing the local partner ecosystem.

This development confirms Greece's position as a reference point for technological innovation in the broader region, linking infrastructure investment with a more active role in shaping European digital strategy.
