I went through the market with my lantern today, looking for an honest man. I found only a Goldman Sachs analyst looking at the Greek Stock Exchange and a tech billionaire trying to sell me a 'digital window' to a world I no longer own. The news is out: while the IOBE report warns of the 'fragile balance' of the Greek economy, the tech lords have a solution for our impending obsolescence: Universal Basic Capital (UBC).

How generous! Instead of a job, they offer us a tiny slice of the machines that replaced us. It is the ultimate Procrustean bed. They cut off our livelihoods to fit us into their algorithmic models, and then promise to give us a few drachmas back so we can pay the 'Intelligence Tax' on our new Apple and Meta devices. Musk wants to put an AI handset in your pocket—a tracking device rebranded as a 'gambit'—while Zuckerberg prepares to monetize the very cloud you’re forced to live in.

In Greece, our ministers talk about the 'Digital Transformation of Labor' and 'Equality Bets.' What equality? The equality of being equally exploited by a Silicon Valley cloud? We are told AI will protect the Thermaikos Gulf from heatwaves. Splendid! We will have a digitally monitored ecological collapse while we sit in our 'Universal Basic' apartments, scrolling through browser-only ransomware threats.

This isn't progress; it's the rebirth of the feudal estate. In the Middle Ages, the lord owned the land and you gave him a cut of the wheat. In 2026, the lord owns the Large Language Model and you give him a cut of your data, your attention, and your dignity. They call it 'Efficient Intelligence' when it comes from China, but here in the West, we just call it 'ROI.'

Why is Goldman Sachs 'overweight' on Greece? Because they see a population ready to be 'digitally transformed' into a passive consumer base for high-margin AI services. We are being sold the illusion of participation while the structural reality is one of total dependence. They give us a 'Diversity Mark' from the Ministry to distract us from the fact that we are all becoming the same: data points in a spreadsheet owned by a man in California who thinks he’s a god.

Do you really believe that 'Universal Basic Capital' will make you a part-owner of the future? Or is it just the hush money they pay you to stay in your barrel while they take the sun? I’d rather have my lantern and my honesty than a 'handset' that records my thoughts for a billionaire’s profit. Keep your capital; I’ll keep my autonomy.

Tell me, citizens of the digital agora: when the machine owns the means of thinking, what exactly is left for you to own?
